What are Spaced Teeth?

Excessive spacing between teeth, or “gapped teeth,” can be caused by a number of factors including the relationship between jaw size and tooth size, congenitally missing teeth, or early tooth loss. A gap is one of the most commonly occurring problems in orthodontics and can occur anywhere in the mouth.

The problems that occur with excessive spacing become more severe as patients mature, causing dental collapse over time and leading to an increased risk of periodontal disease.
