Here are some some easy-to-follow smoothie recipes for when you want to add a fun and delicious addition to your diet while in orthodontic treatment!
Peanut Butter and Banana Meal Smoothie
In a blender add:
- 1/2 of a medium banana
- 1/2 cup quick oats
- 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter ( not natural)
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cup of your favorite kind of milk*
Blend until smooth. Refrigerate until cold. Smoothie will become thicker.
Enjoy now or within the next two days.
* your favorite kind of milk – anything from regular milk, coconut milk, almond milk, chocolate milk, etc
Green Monster Meal Smoothie
(AKA Peanut Butter and Spinach smoothie)
In a blender add:
- 1/2 cup quick oats
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter ( not natural)
- 1/4 cup frozen chopped spinach OR 1 cup fresh spinach
- 2 Tablespoons grape jelly OR honey
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups of your favorite kind of milk*
Blend until smooth. Refrigerate until cold. Smoothie will become thicker.
Enjoy now or within the next two days.
* your favorite kind of milk – anything from regular milk, coconut milk, almond milk, chocolate milk, etc
You don’t taste the spinach, you just taste the peanut butter!
Mixed Fruit Meal Smoothie
In a blender add:
- 1 cup of fruit**
- 1/2 cup quick oats
- 1/4c. apple juice
- 1 1/4 cup of your favorite kind of milk* ( not chocolate milk)
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
Blend until smooth. Refrigerate until cold. Smoothie will thicken.
Enjoy now or within the next two days.
* your favorite kind of milk – anything from regular milk, coconut milk, almond milk, chocolate milk, etc.
** add two or more of your favorites – these all work well- papaya, crushed pineapple, pears, raspberries, apple sauce, Mandarin oranges, peaches, frozen black cherries ( make sure pits are removed).
